Paul Ince has likened Alejandro Garnacho to Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs but urged the young winger to be more decisive in front of goal.

Garnacho has made his claim to be a regular starter for United this season, excelling on either wing and impressing when picked ahead of the underperforming Marcus Rashford. The Argentinian has started all of his side's last 15 games and been their most consistent attacking threat.

That period has seen the 19-year-old net four times - including that incredible overhead kick at Everton - but opportunities have been more regular and that tally should be higher. On multiple occasions, he has fluffed lines after being out through on goal and Ince believes that clinical edge can turn the teenager from good to great.

“Forget about Alejandro Garnacho’s unbelievable goal against Everton – his real asset is that when he gets the ball, his first thought is wanting to beat an opposition player,” Ince told luckyblock. com. “He’s always trying to get past people, which is a great asset to have.

"He’s like Ryan Giggs in the sense that as soon as he got the ball, the first thing on his mind was trying to beat someone. He’s definitely got that characteristic in him. He’s exciting to watch and gets the fans off their seats, and I think he’s going to have a very good career, that’s for sure.

“I’d like to see him score more goals, but he’s still young and can improve a lot. I remember playing with Eric Cantona and he used to turn up early for training to work on his weak foot and his shooting – every day he used to do that.

"That’s what you want to see these young kids do – come out and work on your weaknesses and become a better player. If he does that then he’s going to be a very important player for Manchester United over a long period of time.”

Garnacho signed a new long-term contract at United in April of last year, committing himself to the club until 2028. The Argentinian is set to go from strength to strength at Old Trafford and already looks to have usurped Rashford on the natural left side of the pair.

He has nailed down a place in Ten Hag's plans at a time when other attackers are seemingly being moved on. Jadon Sancho is closing in on a loan return to Borussia Dortmund while Anthony Martial's contract expires in the summer.

There has been interest in Facundo Pellistri and even reports that United have offered the Uruguayan as part of a swap deal for Sporting Lisbon's Morten Hjulmand. Anthony Elanga was sold to Nottingham Forest for £15million last summer.
