Man Utd predicted line-up v Nottingham Forest: Three changes with key defender and £60m signing out - gallery

Manchester United will be forced into at least two changes from the side that slipped to a 2-0 defeat at Tottenham.

Erik ten Hag could be tempted to make changes to his Manchester United side, for the weekend clash against Nottingham Forest.

The Red Devils have performed poorly in both Premier League matches so far this campaign and were lucky to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers in the season-opener, before losing last week to Tottenham Hotspur.

United’s midfield has come under scrutiny already this season from the likes of Gary Neville and Roy Keane, who have questioned the three-man partnership of Casemiro, Bruno Ferandes and Mason Mount. Yet the latter won’t be involved at Old Trafford on Saturday as he picked up a knock against Spurs and will therefore sit out the clash against Forest.

The United boss isn’t blessed with options in reserve - meaning wholesale changes are unlikely this weekend - but Scott McTominay or Christian Eriksen are possibilities to come in and replace Mount.

Luke Shaw is also out injured for the foreseeable and with usual back-up Tyrell Malacia also out, Ten Hag has a decision to make at left back. Diogo Dalot could fill in out of position while Alvaro Fernandez offers a more natural fit but has not made his competitive United debut after impressing on loan with Preston in the Championship last season.

The attacking players have also underwhelmed in the opening weeks of the new campaign, with Antony, Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnahco putting in disappointing displays against Wolves and Tottenham. It’s unlikely Ten Hag will stick with the same three again, and Jadon Sancho and Facundo Pellistri have been introduced off the bench in both matches this term.

With all that in mind, we’re tipping United to make three changes from last week’s starting XI, and here’s how they could line up…
