One of Erik ten Hag’s first jobs as the new Manchester United is to assess which current players he wants to keep and who should move on.
That’s no small task, with the club website listing 40 players in their current first-team squad. While some of those are fringe and youth-team players, it still emphasises how big United’s pool of players is.
Given how disappointing this campaign has been for the Red Devils, there are expected to be plenty of outgoings at Old Trafford, in addition to those who Ten Hag will want to bring into the club.
But who will leave and who will remain at United for the 2022/23 campaign? We’ve cast our eyes over 35 of the squad’s most established players and assessed how likely they are to depart this summer.

13. Aaron Wan-Bissaka - Possible
Could move on if United can find a buyer, although Ten Hag may try and coach Wan-Bissaka back to the level he was operating at 18 months ago.

14. Brandon Williams - Likely
There are real doubts whether he has the ability to hold down a place in the United team, however other full-backs departing could give Williams the chance to play under Ten Hag.
15. Axel Tuanzebe - Likely
Sixth-choice centre-back at present and United will probably offload him, although Tuanzebe’s youthfulness and other defenders leaving could hand him a chance.

16. Paul Pogba - Very likely
Looks all set to leave the club after six underwhelming years. There’s no denying the Frenchman’s talent, but it seems like the right time for him to move on.
