The Blues and Magpies are the only two teams to not concede a goal at this stage of the season.

Pep Guardiola’s side shipped nine goals past Eddie Howe’s men last campaign without conceding, including a 4-0 drubbing at St James’ Park in December.

City come into the game on the back of a 4-0 win against Bournemouth last weekend, with Ilkay Gundogan, Kevin de Bruyne and Phil Foden getting on the scoresheet, while Jefferson Lerma scored an own goal.

New signing Sergio Gomez is in contention for his debut. The Spaniard joined the club from Anderlecht on Tuesday and will add competition for Joao Cancelo at left-back.

As for the Magpies, Matt Targett is a doubt for the game, but Ryan Fraser should be available again, Howe revealed in Friday’s press conference.

“Ryan Fraser we hope will be fit and available,” he said. “He had a back spasm late last week so he was a late withdrawal from the Brighton game. Matt Targett we’ll make a very late decision on.”
