Hide AdPep Guardiola’s side are in fine league form, having won 13 of their 17 games so far, including an emphatic 7-0 victory against Leeds United on Tuesday. The Sky Blues had six different goalscorers, including Kevin De Bruyne, who netted twice.
As for Newcastle, they are in a different situation to their opponents on Saturday, having won only one league game all season. The Magpies lost 3-1 to Liverpool on Thursday night.
The sides head into the game 31 points apart in the league, with City the current league-leaders by just a point more than second-place Liverpool. Newcastle sit 19th in the table, three points away from safety.
Overall, the Mancunian club has the better record when coming face to face in England’s top-flight. Of the 42 meetings in the competition, City have won 26 of them, while the Magpies have been victorious eight times and honours have been even on eight occasions as well.

What’s the latest team news?
City’s victory against Leeds saw the return to the starting XI for John Stones, Kevin De Bruyne, Riyad Mahrez and Phil Foden.
Stones replaced Cancelo at right-back, after the Portuguese international was suspended for picking up five yellow cards this season, while Guardiola opted to rotate his midfield and forwards by dropping Ilkay Gundogan, Raheem Sterling and Gabriel Jesus to the bench for the other above names.
Ferran Torres, who suffered a foot injury on international duty with Spain in October, remains unavailable. The forward is still some time off being fully fit.

Hide AdGuardiola’s fluidity in his style of play allows for either of his favoured 4-2-2-2 or 4-3-3 formation to be used against Newcastle. The former, which was used against Leeds, saw a two-man midfield made up of Rodri and Bernardo Silva as a pairing, while Mahrez and Grealish occupied each wing, and De Bruyne and Foden were up front.
Though the three points are the aim for City, this could be the perfect opportunity for Guardiola to continue to rotate his side and start those needing more game-time.
The hosts have Paul Dummett unavailable due to a calf injury, with Eddie Howe confirming on Thursday that Jamal Lewis and Allan Saint-Maximin are unlikely to play.
Predicted line-ups:
Manchester City (4-3-3): Ederson; Walker, Stones, Ake, Cancelo; Fernandinho, De Bruyne, Gundogan; Foden, Jesus, Sterling.
