Manchester City have been linked with Bundesliga left-back Borna Sosa with the imminent departure of Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Ukrainian’s £32 million move to Arsenal is all but confirmed and Pep Guardiola’s side are eager to strengthen on the left flank ahead of the upcoming Premier League campaign.

According to BILD, City have joined the race to sign Stuttgart defender Sosa, with Chelsea also keen on bringing him to England.

Meanwhile, the report claims that City will face stiff competition from Bayern Munich and Barcelona for the highly rated full-back.

With Stuttgart reportedly willing to sell Sosa for around £20 million this summer, the European giants will now battle it out to snap him up.

The Premier League champions reportedly see Sosa as an alternative to Marc Cucurella, who they have been negotiations with in recent weeks.

However, the Spaniard’s supposed £50 million price tag is putting City off, and they could be looking at other targets.

Who is Borna Sosa?

Sosa began his professional career in his home country of Croatia, with Zinamo Zagreb.

After 13 years in the capital city, Sosa earned himself a five-year contract with Stuttgart in 2018, for around £5 million. However, he struggled with injuries in his first two seasons in Germany.

The defender’s third campaign proved to be a breakthrough one, and he displayed spectacular form in Stuttgart’s backline, extending his contract until 2025 and going onto finish the campaign with nine assists.

Sosa was named team captain last season and went on to make 28 appearances in the Bundesliga, claiming another eight assists.

The 24-year-old’s impressive form also earned him his first international cap for Croatia in September 2021 and he has made seven appearances for his country in total.
