Manchester City have been busy in the summer transfer window so far with Pep Guardiola adding four new signings to his squad.

The Sky Blues will be looking to secure a third consecutive Premier League title next season, an accomplishment only achieved by their cross-town rivals Manchester United.

City have bolstered their attacking options with the arrivals of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez, while also signing goalkeeper Stefan Ortega and Kalvin Phillips.

Despite their already impressive recruitment, it doesn’t look like Guardiola has plans to stop their summer spending, with numerous reports linking Brighton & Hove Albion defender Marc Cucurella to the club.

Manchester City have been heavily linked with a move for Brighton & Hove Albion's Marc Cucurella and are now thought to be set to include James McAtee as a makeweight in their bid. The Seagulls had previously shown interest in the young midfielder. The Spaniard’s performances for the Seagulls last campaign saw him awarded their Players’ Player and Player of the Season.

And now Guardiola could get his man based on recent comments from Brighton Chairman Tony Bloom, with the latter admitting if a ‘certain bid’ comes in for Cucurella and he wants to leave, then he will be allowed to.

“I’m not going to speculate on individual players we may or may not get bids for,” Bloom told BBC Radio Sussex, as quoted by Sussex Live.

“The fact that there is speculation and there is interest in our players, I always view that as a positive. It hasn’t always been like that. There’s less than three or four clubs where some of the players are not for sale.

“We’ve got to be realistic if a certain bid comes in and the player wants to move, the player will move, but we are not anticipating, we’re not looking for our best players to move on. If it happens and we get a bid then we have to consider it, but until that point, we carry on.”

Cucurella has only played one season in the Premier League after moving to the Seagulls last summer from Getafe.

Meanwhile, the Sky Blues could be set to sell Nathan Ake to Chelsea, according to the Times.

The newspaper claims that Thomas Tuchel’s side are in ‘advanced talks’ with City over a move for the defender.

Ake, who has been capped by the Netherlands 27 times, is no stranger to Stamford Bridge, having donned the blue of Chelsea between 2012 and 2017.

The 27-year-old is said to be keen on a move back to London, but Guardiola’s team don’t want to sell him, as per the Daily Mail.
