Man Utd predicted XI gallery vs Newcastle: Will Marcus Rashford play in Carabao Cup final?

We’re tipping Erik ten Hag to make two changes to his Manchester United starting line-up.

Erik ten Hag will hope Marcus Rashford is available for Sunday’s Carabao Cup final against Newcastle United.

The Manchester United attacker went down in the latter stages of Thursday’s win over Barcelona with a knock and, while playing on for a short period, was ultimately replaced by Scott McTominay just minutes before injury-time. A disgruntled Rashford removed one boot as he made his way round the Old Trafford pitch and was filmed limping out of the stadium at the end of the night.

Ten Hag said on Friday that he is not sure whether Rashford will be available for Sunday, with the England international to be assessed before the clash at Wembley. But the United boss did confirm Anthony Martial is out with a hip injury, in addition to the long-term absences of Christian Eriksen and Donny van de Beek.

It leaves Ten Hag with a number of pre-match selection dilemmas. A key decision will be choosing whether to start the more defensively astute Aaron Wan-Bissaka at right-back or go with Diogo Dalot.

The United boss will also have to consider whether he starts with Fred in midfield after a superb second-half showing against Barcelona, while Scott McTominay and Marcel Sabitzer offer alternatives.

Regardless of Rashford’s availability, there are plenty of questions to be asked about who should start in the attacking areas for United. Wout Weghorst has struggled of late, Jadon Sancho underwhelmed against Barcelona and Alejandro Garnacho isn’t yet trusted to start in the big games. Antony might come into the side after returning from injury and putting in an excellent showing against Barca in the second half.

With all that in mind, here’s how we think United will line up on Sunday…
