Manchester City could have a busy end to the summer transfer window with several possible deals to be concluded before Friday’s deadline.

Hide AdCity announced the signing of Ilkay Gundogan last week, their second arrival of the summer, along with Savinho from Troyes. Meanwhile, Julian Alvarez’s exit to Atletico Madrid undoubtedly leaves City weaker up front, while Sergio Gomez signed for Real Sociedad.
But it’s the departures of youth and fringe players that have dominated the agenda this window. Kalvin Phillips joined Ipswich Town on loan, while Yan Couto, Luke Mbete and Mohamadou Susoho have also secured short-term exits away from the Premier League champions. Meanwhile, Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Micah Hamilton and Liam Delap have left permanently, earning City around £40m in the process.
There could be two further exits this week though, with interest in Portugal internationals Joao Cancelo and Matheus Nunes. The former might be set to join Saudi Arabian side Al-Hilal after they agreed a fee of €25m (£21m) with City for his permanent transfer

Hide AdCancelo is yet to agree terms with Al-Hilal, but given he is unlikely to be given game time under Pep Guardiola, a permanent move away seems in everyone’s best interest. The defender, who had a high-profile disagreement with Guardiola in January 2023, has been left out of all three matchday squads so far this season.
As for Nunes, he has attracted interest from Atletico and could follow Alvarez to the Spanish capital. It’s understood City have not received an offer yet, and any outgoing would be a loan move.
Elsewhere, Kayky completed a short-term switch to Sparta Rotterdam yesterday (Monday), with Maximo Perrone securing a loan to Serie A side Como, who are managed by Cesc Fabregas.

Hide AdAs for incomings, Guardiola said on Friday that he is happy with his squad following Gundogan’s return. “I don’t know what is going to happen,” he said, when asked about transfers. ”Could happen something in terms of injuries, hopefully not. Right now I don’t think so.”
It’s not impossible City do conduct some business in the final days of the market if a suitable candidate becomes available, with Manuel Akanji’s arrival from Borussia Dortmund in the latter stages of the 2022 window cited as an example of the club’s proactive approach.
Celtic’s Kyogo Furuhashi and Orri Oskarsson are being monitored by City but no transfer offer is expected before Friday.
