Jack Grealish, Erling Haaland & six more to be rested: Man City predicted XI vs Burnley - gallery

We’re tipping Pep Guardiola to make eight changes for the FA Cup quarter-final.

Pep Guardiola is expected to rest several Manchester City players for Saturday’s FA Cup quarter-final against Burnley.

The Blues have had a busy schedule in recent weeks and with the majority of the players heading off on international duty - and a hectic April fixture list anticipated - the weekend game against Burnley will afford Guardiola the opportunity to give a few players a rest.

Ederson is one of those most likely to have an evening off, and the Brazilian has not started any of the three FA Cup matches this season.

In defence, Manuel Akanji, Ruben Dias and Nathan Ake have played the majority of recent games and it’s likely Guardiola will rotate at the back. However, resting the latter does pose a problem as City don’t really have a natural replacement at left-back. John Stones has started the last two but, after returning recently from a hamstring injury, the England international may not be selected to play in three consecutive matches.

Rodri is another candidate to drop to the bench. No City player has started more games this season than the Spaniard, and Kalvin Phillips could be handed a rare start. Elsewhere in the middle, two of Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva and Kevin De Bruyne are expected to play, although Phil Foden is an option in a central position.

Erling Haaland netted five in midweek as City beat RB Leipzig, but he has played just one of the club’s FA Cup matches this season, while Jack Grealish is also likely to join the Norwegian in dropping to the bench. Here’s how we think City will line up for their much-awaited reunion with Vincent Kompay
