Man United look set to add a goalkeeper in the summer transfer window, amid reports that they want to replace Andre Onana, who has had a disappointing year at Old Trafford.
They have been linked to several top ‘keepers, but aren’t the only club looking to sign one. Man City are also set to sign a new stopper this summer, with current number one Ederson only having one year left on his contract at the Etihad.

Manchester City ‘offer’ £34 million to sign Manchester United target Costa
One goalkeeper that has been linked with a move to United is Porto’s Diogo Costa, who has a £64m release clause in his contract. However, the Portuguese side are reportedly willing to sell him for less than that, with a figure of £51m touted.
He is one of Man United’s main targets this summer; however, according to a report by Caught Offside, City are already making moves to land him. They claim that Man City have offered £34m to Porto to sign Costa in the summer - a bid which will likely get rejected. However, the report does add that City are expected to increase their bid in order to get Costa.
The Portuguese goalie has been impressive for Martin Anselmi’s side this season, conceding 44 goals in 41 matches, keeping 18 clean sheets, which has helped attract attention from top Premier League clubs. The 25-year-old could see himself get the choice between City and United, which at the moment would likely mean he will pick a move to the Etihad, where he can challenge for major trophies immediately with Pep Guardiola’s side.

The Cameroon international has not yet spoken out on the reports linking him with a move away this summer, amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs. However, there have been indications that he wants to stay at Old Trafford.
Fabrizio Romano said via GiveMeSport: “At the moment, it’s important to clarify that Onana wants to stay at Manchester United and compete at his best level as long as possible. It’s his desire to change the situation, help the team, continue at Old Trafford and follow his dream.
“At the same time, Man Utd's management, together with Ruben Amorim, will assess the goalkeeper situation to decide how they want to proceed with that position in the summer transfer window. So the situation could be open, and it's an interesting one to follow.”
Onana remains under contract at United for another three years after signing a five-year deal when he joined from Inter for a fee of £43m in 2023. He has since made 97 appearances for the Red Devils, conceding 145 goals and keeping 23 clean sheets.
