Liverpool injury news
Starting with the visitors, Liverpool wing-back Conor Bradley is unavailable. He went off in their last match away at Aston Villa and will miss their next two matches at least. Centre-back Joe Gomez is also out with a hamstring issue. Midfielder Tyler Morton, who has been loaned out to Blackburn Rovers and Hull City in the past, has a shoulder problem. The Reds will need to make checks on attacker Cody Gakpo. He has found the net on 16 occasions this term but has picked up a knock.
Speaking ahead of their trip to City, Slot has said: “I think if you go away at Villa that’s always a difficult fixture. If you start the season you say, ‘Oh, Villa away, that’s a difficult one, [Manchester] City away, that’s a difficult one,’ so performance-wise, not a dip at all today in my opinion, but you might disagree.
“And what we must not do, and have done a bit too often now, is that we don’t get what we deserve and if you look at all the chances, if you put them in a row from us and them, I think it’s clear which team should have won this game and we must not make a habit out of that because it happened a bit too much now. Still, we are eight points clear with Arsenal [having] a game in hand.”

City striker Erling Haaland, who has 27 goals to his name in this campaign, remains a doubt for their match against Liverpool. The Norway international sustained a knee injury last weekend against Newcastle. He will now be assessed over the next day or so to assess whether he is fit. When asked whether he will play a part against the Reds, Guardiola has said: “I don’t know yet. Tomorrow will know it, I don’t know yet.”
On whether he is hopeful he can feature, his boss: “Yeah, maybe but I don’t know yet. We train today, until tomorrow he will test but I don’t know.
“It is better to have Erling on the pitch than not have him, obviously. But with Erling we are in the position that we are right now. Everybody is responsible for good and bad things in the team. But of course, with Erling we are stronger.”
John Stones is set for a spell on the sidelines and his manager has said: “He’s injured, a difficult one. Next hours, days we’ll know if he needs surgery or not. Yeah [he faces a long period out], like Manu Akanji.” Rodri and Oscar Bobb remain long-term absentees. Meanwhile, as Guardioua alluded to, Manuel Akanji is also in the treatment roon.
