Manchester City could have an almost fully-fit squad for Wednesday’s Premier League clash against Arsenal.

The Gunners have dropped points in the last three matches, which has handed the initiative to City in the title race. Pep Guardiola’s men are five points behind Arsenal but have played two games fewer, meaning a draw at the Etihad still leaves City’s destiny in their own hands.

But the Blues will be going all out for a win and will be relieved that they managed to rest several key players at the weekend in the FA Cup win over Sheffield United. Ederson, John Stones, Ruben Dias, Rodri and Kevin De Bruyne didn’t play any part, while Ilkay Gundogan, Bernardo Silva, Jack Grealish and Erling Haaland were all replaced in the 3-0 semi-final victory.

Nathan Ake missed the match all together with a hamstring injury and he’s expected to be unavailable again on Wednesday. Guardiola said on Friday afternoon that Ake would have a scan later that day, but he wasn’t asked about the Dutchman following the Wembley win at the weekend and the extent of the problem remains unknown.

As for Arsenal, they are also expected to be without a key defender, with William Saliba almost certain to miss out through injury. Speaking about the 22-year-old’s fitness last week, Mikel Arteta said: “I don’t know, it’s a bit early to know.

“Probably next week we’ll have more certainty. There is some evolution, he’s doing more activity but is not there yet to start to throw him into the pitch at the level the sessions demand to compete in this league.”

Saliba missed the 3-3 Premier League draw against Southampton on Friday, as did Granit Xhaka. The midfielder was absent due to illness but is expected to be back for the midweek trip to Manchester.

Oleksandr Zinchenko returned to the team for the Southampton draw after missing the previous match with a knock, and he will likely play at left-back on Wednesday against his former side, but Takehiro Tomiyasu and Mohamed Elneny are both injured.

Doubt: Ake (City); Xhaka (Arsenal)

Ruled: Saliba, Tomiyasu, Elneny (Arsenal)
