Ex- Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger feels his former side can still beat Manchester City to first place in the Premier League title, despite the Gunners surrendering their advantage in recent weeks.

Arsenal had held an eight point lead two weeks ago but after drawing their last two matches - both of which they led 2-0 in - Mikel Arteta’s side are now just four points clear of City, who have a game in hand. With the Blues set to meet Arsenal next Wednesday, it means the title race is once again in City’s hands.

Despite that, Wenger still feels Arsenal hold an advantage in the race for top spot as they only have one competition to focus on, while City still are competing on three fronts. The Gunners are in league action this weekend against Southampton, yet Pep Guardiola’s side face Sheffield United in the FA Cup semi-final, meaning they’ll have to squeeze the postponed league clash with Brighton & Hove Albion into a later date in the season.

City are also set to face Real Madrid in the semi-finals of the Champions League next month, with the reigning English champions hopeful of making it to the final in Istanbul on 10 June. Given the strain that could put on City’s squad, Wenger feels Arsenal remain favourites to come out in top in the Premier League title race.

"Like Guardiola said, City are very tired. I really felt they finished tired in the last 10, 15 minutes [against Bayern Munich] and maybe Arsenal can take advantage of it because Arsenal play in nothing else, just the championship,” the Frenchman told beIN Sports.

"They play on Friday night [against Southampton], they have five days to prepare for this game so physically they could have an advantage and surprise City, that’s what I hope of course but let’s see. I still think we will win it."
