Major Man City injury blow ahead of Brentford and Arsenal games as released prospect joins Wrexham
Manchester City are awaiting news on an injured suffered by defender Nathan Ake during the Netherlands’ Nations League draw with Germany.
The former Chelsea and Bournemouth star was named in Ronald Koeman’s starting eleven as his side looked to build on their 5-2 win in their opening Nations League fixture against Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday night. The momentum from that win looked to have continued when Tijjani Reijnders put the Dutch in front inside the opening three minutes before former Brighton forward Denis Undav grabbed an equaliser for the Germans. Ake suffered an apparent hamstring injury just moments later and was replaced by Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber at half-time, by which time his side were a goal down thanks to an effort from Joshua Kimmich.

That game will provide the first game of a trio of Etihad Stadium fixtures as Pep Guardiola’s side host Inter Milan in their first Champions League game of the season before hosting title rivals Arsenal just days later.
Ake missed a handful of games last season with a calf injury but has suffered a number of hamstring injuries since he joined City from Bournemouth in a £38m move during the summer of 2020. Speaking after Tuesday night’s game, Netherlands head coach Koeman gave some indication of the injury, saying: “It looks like a muscle injury for Nathan, though I am not certain.”
Former City prospect lands Wrexham move
SkyBet League One leaders Wrexham have confirmed the signing of former Celtic and Manchester City youngster Josh Adam.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder left the Scottish Premiership giants to join City during the summer of 2020 and has been a regular feature in the reigning Premier League champions’ Under-21 and Under-19s sides in recent seasons. However, Adam was released earlier this summer after failing to break into the senior setup at the Etihad Stadium and has now put pen-to-paper on a one-year deal after spending time on trial with Phil Parkinson’s side. Adam joins a side sat three points clear at the top of the League One table and is hoping to prove to his new manager he is capable of shining at a senior level.

Speaking to the club’s official website about his move, Adam said: “It’s really exciting to get it over the line. I’m excited to get started and get going. They have been tough sessions while I’ve been here on trial – the gaffer’s had us working hard – but the boys have all been brilliant and I’ve got to know a lot of them. I’d say I’m a very technical player, I like to get on the ball a lot and make things happen. I’ve had some of the best coaches and best team-mates at academy level, they’ve helped me to grow a lot and it’s challenged me, and now the next step is to get into the men’s game.”
