One of Manchester City’s recent departures has returned to the club.

Mahamadou Sushoho has returned to Manchester City after his loan move to Peterborough United was cut short.

The midfielder only joined the Posh on loan last week and played in the opening-day defeat to Huddersfield Town. But he picked up an injury in the warm-up ahead of the midweek Carabao Cup loss against Oxford United, which forced him to sit the game out.

Scans have subsequently shown Susoho will be out for several months, and his short-term switch to Peterborough has been terminated. Speaking on Saturday after the win over Shrewsbury Town, manager Darren Ferguson said he hopes the teenager can return to London Road in January.

“He’ll be out for at least four months as we feared; it’s probably about as bad an injury as you can get to that area,” he explained.

“We’ve sent him back to Man City and we will keep in touch with him and the aim will be to get him back in January on loan for the rest of the season. I felt for him, it’s his first loan and he’s a young kid. It’s a real blow to us.

“We will have a recruitment meeting on Monday,” he added. “We still want to get another centre-half, if we can but we’ve got Hector back, which is good.

Susoho has played one senior game for City and is highly regarded at the Etihad. He played in all four of the club’s pre-season matches in the US this summer and trained regularly with Pep Guardiola’s senior squad last season.
