Jeremy Doku has said he is starting to see improvements in his game after a slow start to the 2024/25 season.

It’s therefore been a disjointed start to the new campaign for the likes of Doku, although he has played in all bar one of City’s 11 games so far this season.
The 22-year-old’s form has been mixed in the early weeks of the campaign, with Jack Grealish taking his place in the starting XI for recent games against Inter Milan, Newcastle United and Fulham.
But after a slow start, Doku has rediscovered his scoring touch and he netted in last week’s Carabao Cup victory over Watford, before grabbing what proved to be the decisive strike against Fulham after coming off the bench on Saturday. The Belgian is hoping to build on that form after the October international break.

“The last couple of games have been better and the statistics also follow that. I hope to keep on going like that. Obviously a club like this, there are always top players in your position. Savinho, Jack, a lot of players,” he added.
Netting more goals like that scored against Fulham would certainly help Doku nail down a more regular spot in the wide areas, with the attacker driving inside and unleashing an unstoppable, dipping effort that flew beyond Bernd Leno.

“We knew in advance it wouldn't be an easy game,” he added. “Since I've been here, every game in the Premier League is difficult. You have to give this team their credit, it's a good team. We struggled, but at the end of the day it's the result that counts and we won.”
Having Doku firing on all cylinders again would be a huge boost for Pep Guardiola, with the former Rennes man providing the sort of penetration and directness that the likes of Grealish, Savinho and Bernardo Silva lack.

Doku’s strike, coming after Mateo Kovacic’s earlier brace, ensured City grabbed a 3-2 win at the Etihad. The three points means Guardiola’s side will sit second in the table over the international break, level on points with Arsenal and just one off leaders Liverpool.
