Manchester City have been crowned Premier League champions again after Arsenal’s shock away defeat to Nottingham Forest.

Pep Guardiola’s men were well on their way to successfully defending their title in any case after putting together a superb run of form to overtake the Gunners. But Mikel Arteta’s men lost 1-0 at the City Ground on Saturday afternoon, and that result means they can no longer catch City, who are four points better off. Meanwhile, Forest all-but wrapped up safety with the win.

The Citizens have three games to play, while Arsenal have won, but Guardiola’s men can now concentrate on their FA Cup and Champions League finals. With another Premier League trophy in the bag, we have taken a look at the reviewed honours list for City and Guardiola.

City’s league-winning honours

City now have nine English first division titles, spanning from 1903 to 2023.

Two of those titles were in the old first division, while eight of them are Premier League titles. The full list is as follows: 1936–37, 1967–68, 2011–12, 2013–14, 2017–18, 2018–19, 2020–21, 2021–22, 2022-23.

In terms of most first division wins, including all varieties of the top tier, Manchester United lead the way with 20, ahead of Liverpool with 19 and Arsenal 13. City’s title win this season takes them level with Everton in fourth place with nine.

As for Premier League titles, City now have seven, which puts them six behind Manchester United with 13 and two ahead of Chelsea with five.

Guardiola’s honours list

Guardiola has amassed a hugely impressive trophy haul during his career so far, winning league titles at all three clubs he has managed.

This Premier League title win is Guardiola’s fifth during his time at City, and it adds to three La Liga titles won with Barcelona and three Bundesliga titles won with Bayern Munich. That makes 11 top-tier league titles altogether, and 12 league titles in all after winning the Tercera Division with Barcelona B back in 2008.

All in all, Guardiola has now won 34 titles as a manager, when you include cup competitions both domestic and global or European. The City boss will be hoping to make it 36 this season with the FA Cup and Champions League finals still to play. So far, the Spaniard has won two Champions League titles during his career - both with Barcelona. He has won one FA Cup which, of course, was with City back in 2019.

Which manager has won the Premier League the most?

If we include all varieties of the top division, Alex Ferguson comes out on top with 13. He is followed by George Ramsay and Bob Paisley with six each, and then come Tom Watson, Matt Busby and now Guardiola with five. Herbert Chapman and Kenny Dagleish each have four, a total Guardiola has now surpassed.

As for the Premier League specifically, Ferguson still leads with 13 - given all of his titles came in the Premier League era - while Guardiola is second with his five. Jose Mourinho and Arsene Wenger are tied below the paid with three each.
