The third round of Premier League fixtures came to an end on Monday evening with Manchester United beating Liverpool 2-1 at Old Trafford.

United, who moved up to 14th in the table after the victory, will be hoping the result will kick-start their campaign after losing their opening two fixtures.

It has been a different story for cross-town rivals Manchester City however, with Pep Guardiola’s side sat second in the table with seven points after their opening three games.

The Sky Blues were involved in a memorable 3-3 draw with Newcastle United on Sunday and came back from a two-goal deficit to secure the result on Tyneside.

Ex-City forward Gabriel Jesus is loving life at new club Arsenal. The Gunners are top of the Premier League with three wins in as many games.

There have been some shock results so far this season that have led to the likes of Liverpool and West Ham United without a win, while Leeds United, Brighton & Hove Albion and Fulham are performing strongly early on.

10 | Che Adams - Southampton - 7.55

We kick-start the list with Southampton and Scotland striker Che Adams, who helped the Saints to their first win of the campaign on Saturday, scoring twice against Leicester City in their 2-1 victory.

9 | Allan Saint-Maximin - Newcastle - 7.57

The Frenchman had a field day against City in the Magpies’ 3-3 draw against the reigning champions on Sunday, providing two assists and causing Kyle Walker problems down the left-wing.

He has a successful dribble rate of 73%, while winning 55% of total duels and is averaging 2.3 shots per game.

Nick Pope is proving to be one of the signings of the summer so far in the Premier League having kept two clean sheets in three games so far.

The England international was a standout performer in the Magpies’ draw with City, making a number of goal-threatening saves and preventing his side from suffering their first defeat of the campaign.

7 | James Ward-Prowse - Southampton - 7.60

Southampton’s captain and always a danger when taking set pieces, James Ward-Prowse is the second Saints player to feature in the list.

He scored the club’s opening goal of the season in their 4-1 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur and assisted Adams’ second of the game against Leicester.

6 | Gabriel Jesus - Arsenal - 7.63

Gabriel Jesus’ form for Arsenal so far has been outstanding, scoring twice and registering three assists playing in his more familiar no.9 role.

The Brazilian is averaging 3.3 shots per game and has successfully completed 69% of dribbles during the Gunners’ opening three fixtures.

His £45m switch to the Emirates Stadium has proven to be a brilliant piece of business so far from Mikel Arteta.

5 | Rodrigo - Leeds - 7.63

The 31-year-old has hit the ground running this season, scoring four goals and providing one assist. He currently sits top of the goal-scoring charts in the Premier League and will be looking to continue this when Leeds face Brighton on Saturday.

Rodrigo is proving a threat in Jesse Marsch’s side, averaging 4.3 shots per game and helped the Whites dominate Chelsea on Sunday in their 3-0 win.

4 | Riyad Mahrez - Man City - 7.70

The Algerian international was City’s top scorer in all competitions last campaign but is still looking to get off the mark this season.

Despite his lack of goals so far, the winger has proven to be a threat for Guardiola’s side in terms of his passing accuracy per game (93%) and has made 1.5 key passes.

A standout performer on the wing for Leeds, scoring once and registering three assists. The 25-year-old will be hoping to maintain his impressive form ahead of the World Cup this year and provide England boss Gareth Southgate with a selection headache.

2 | Dean Henderson - Nottingham Forest - 8.03

The Manchester United goalkeeper is spending the 2022-23 campaign on loan with newly-promoted Nottingham Forest and has impressed for the Reds so far.

He has kept one clean sheet in their opening three games, while averaging six saves per game in Steve Cooper’s side.

The 25-year-old is another name who, if he continues to perform to the level he is, will surely be in consideration for a spot on the plane to Qatar for England.

City’s no.17 and Belgian midfielder maestro Kevin De Bruyne is the Premier League best performing player after three games.

The 31-year-old has one goal to his name as well as three assists and has made 4.0 key passes for the Sky Blues, while completing 71% of successful dribbles and averaging 3.0 shots per game.
