Manchester City players won’t get much chance for a break this Christmas with nine games scheduled throughout December, eight in the Premier League.

The reigning champions, however look to have a fairly straight run-in on paper around Christmas and New Year time.

On 19 December they travel to Newcastle, with the unusual kick-off time of 2.15pm. It’s not a fixture that should worry Pep Guardiola unduly though the Toon may be singing a different tune soon with one eye on the January transfer window. It will be screened on Sky Sports or you can catch it via Now TV.

On 26 December, City host Leicester City. The sides last played each other on Boxing Day back in 2018, when a red card and a loss for City made for a poor afternoon and they will be looking to avoid another slip up. The 3pm kick-off is not on live TV.

The penultimate fixture before a two-week break is Brentford away on 29 December. Brentford started the season in glorious form, beating Arsenal with ease and earning points against Liverpool but recent defeats to Norwich and Burnley have suggested a dip in form. The game starts at 8.15pm and is live on Prime Video.

City’s first match of 2022 is against Arsenal on 1 January. City thrashed the Gunners 5-0 at the start of the season, but Arsenal are currently enjoying some irresistible form, so it will be a great encounter to watch if Arsenal can take their current form into the New Year. The game kicks off at 12.30pm and this one is on BT Sport 1 HD & BT Sport UItimate.
