Close relationships with family celebrated in new Deansgate window display

The Great Northern Warehouse has teamed up with art-led platform, Dez Rez Projects, to reveal a new art installation in the window of 285 Deansgate – a window space used to support and showcase local artists

‘A Small Space’ features artwork from eighteen practising local artists, all of whom take inspiration from their personal lives – including close relationships with family, and unique inanimate objects.

Curated by proud Mancunian artists Jen Orpin and Nan Collantine, Dez Rez Projects was established to showcase up and coming artists in temporary spaces, aimed at helping creatives struggling to find permanent spaces to exhibit their work.

The exhibition showcases an extensive range of artistic styles – from sketch work to graphic prints – showcasing how art can express the same meaning in different forms.

It steps away from conventional white cube gallery spaces and seeks spaces that are more contemporary and unique, aligning perfectly with the creations on display.

The eighteen artists featured are firm believers in working collaboratively, and believe that supporting fellow creatives is a huge part of being an independent artist in Manchester.

Rachael Addis, Heather Alderson, Nancy Collantine, Margaret Cahill, Julie Cassels, Peter Davis, Sarah Feinmann, Ruth Fildes, Laura Nathan, Sophie Nixon, Jen Orpin, Sam Own Hull, Laura Pedley, Sandra Robinson, Michelle Taube, Stefanie Trow, Jude Wainwright and Hannah Wooll.

All artwork featured in the exhibition is available for purchase from 285 Deansgate – which can be viewed until September.
