It’s hard to credit that the 1970s were 50-odd years ago now but the decade’s contribution to music, sport, fashion and culture still has an impact to this day.
Hair was longer, trousers were wider and the world around us was changing, not least of all in Manchester. Many of us have fond memories of dancing the night away at Manchester’s packed clubs and bars, from Pips to Electric Circus, and Manchester United legend George Best crossed the line from sport into popular culture with his good looks and model girlfriends.
It was also still a time when kids played out on the streets with their pals and schoo. Here, we take a nostalgic look back through the decade in no particular order,with some fun photos from the archives.
