The business has similar kind-hearted giveaways every month to support good causes.

What is Buy Rope doing for World Kindness Day?

Buy Rope is giving away any money it makes on World Kindness Day (13 November) to a charity based in the city.

It is asking the public which good cause should benefit from the generous gesture.

Charities or not-for-profit organisations can share the post Buy Rope has put on Facebook about it and then has to collect as many likes as it can until midnight on World Kindness Day.

The cause which has harvested most likes by this time will then be the recipient of the firm’s profits.

Anyone within Greater Manchester is eligible to take part.

Why is the company doing this?

Buy Rope has a day each month where it gives away 100% of its profits to a good cause, normally in conjunction with some kind of awareness-raising drive.

This year it has supported a children’s charity to coincide with Talk Like A Pirate Day, an animal rescue or welfare organisation for International Cat Day and a concern supporting cycling for Bike Week.

Helping our four-legged friends is a recurring effort for Buy Rope as it also has an ongoing scheme to help Life4Cats Rescue, which looks after felines which have been abandoned or left on the streets in Romania.

The firm donates a small amount of money for each review that is left and gives more cash if there is a picture included.

Dora Pista, campaign executive at Buy Rope, said: “We want to give back to the community and support causes which are important to us.

“We know we’re a small company and we’re not able to give a lot, but every time we’ve done this we’ve found a cause we want to support.”

Dora says Buy Rope usually manages to make a few hundred pounds for each of the monthly causes the company backs.

What is World Kindness Day?

World Kindness falls on 13 November each year and was created by a coalition of non-governmental organisations (NGOs) dedicated to promoting kindness and compassion.

It was first marked in 1998.

Residents are also encouraged to make pledges to do things for other people or their communities on the day.
