And Manchester is the area with the third highest number of people yet to receive their first jab - although the numbers don’t reflect the proportion of the population who are vaccinated.

The city council area has an estimated population of 468, 944 people aged 12 and over, according to the Office for National Statistics – but it is believed 111, 641 people have yet to have received their first jab. That equates to around 24% of the eligible population still to be vaccinated.

Birmingham and Leeds has larger numbers of unvaccinated people, although Leeds has a higher percentage of its eligible population vaccinated than Manchester.

By 25 October 2021, figures show 49,753,037 people in the UK have had their first Covid vaccine, with 45,451,087 in England and Scotland.
