Woman hit by Metrolink tram in Chorlton is left with life-changing injuries

Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was struck by a tram in Chorlton and seriously injured yesterday (6 October 2022).

The 21-year-old was hit by a Metrolink tram which was travelling from Rochdale to East Didsbury.

Police said as the tram approached the St Werburgh’s tram stop, the woman attempted to cross the tramway from the south towards Sidbury Road and was struck by the vehicle, which was travelling at around 20mph.

Emergency services were called and she was taken to hospital where she has ‘life-changing’ injuries, GMP said today.

Police have issued an appeal for anyone who saw what happened to call them.

GMP’s Serious Crash Investigation Unit (SCIU) are also asking for any CCTV or phone footage. Call them 0161 856 4741, quoting reference number 1485-061022.
