Two elderly women in hospital with serious injuries after hit-and-run collision in Broadway, Chadderton

Two women in their 60s and 70s are in hospital with serious injuries following a hit-and-run in Oldham.

Police were called around 6.20pm on Tuesday (1 March) to a report of a collision on Broadway, Chadderton.

An Audi A4 and a Suzuki Swift collided at the junction of Broadway and Eaves Lane, GMP said, and the Audi failed to remain at the scene.

The occupants of the Suzuki - two women aged in their 60s and 70s - were taken to hospital with serious injuries.

Both remained there on Wednesday, one in a critical condition.

What have police said?

Sergeant Andrew Page, of GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “This was a serious collision which has left two elderly women in a serious condition in hospital.

“A full investigation is currently underway to establish the full circumstances of this collision and locate the driver of the Audi.

“We’re appealing to anyone who may have been in the area at the time and witnessed the collision or the two vehicles in the area at the time to get in touch with police.

“I would urge anyone in the area at the time to check their dash-cam or CCTV footage as you may be holding footage that could greatly assist our enquiries.”
