Tributes to Manchester United fan killed in Ukraine as club pledges to help his family

A founder of the Kyiv Reds, the club said they were deeply saddened by the news of Aleksander Kukin’s death.

Manchester United have paid tribute to a fan who has been killed in the conflict in Ukraine.

A statement by the Kyiv Reds fan club on Facebook on Monday confirmed that Aleksander Kukin had died after his car was shot at.

The club said it was deeply saddened to learn the news about the ‘much admired’ fan.

A club statement on Tuesday said: “His wife and daughter survived the tragedy, and have since undergone operations in hospital. “We send our heartfelt condolences for their loss and best wishes for their recovery, as they attempt to deal with these awful events.

“The club is exploring a number of ways in which it can offer its support to both Aleksander’s family and the Kyiv Reds in due course.”
