Burglar knocked down woman as he stole her car from her home in Greater Manchester

The woman in her 60s has been left with head, leg and abdominal injuries following the burglary at her home in Horwich.

A woman has been left badly injured after a burglar knocked her down while stealing her car.

The woman, in her 60s, found a man inside her house and ran outside to shout for help.

However, he stole her handbag and her black Volkswagen T Roc - and knocked her over as he fled the scene on Church Street, Horwich, at 9pm on Sunday (27 February).

The car has been found but its owner remains in hospital with head, abdominal and leg injuries.

What did police say?

Inspector Deborah Hurst, of GMP’s Bolton district, said: “This was a horrific experience for the victim - we wish her well, hoping she makes a full recovery.

“Enquiries are ongoing but we are appealing for anyone with information to contact us.

“We are particularly interested in hearing from anyone with dash cam footage which shows the VW T Roc (reg plate MA18 WZT) since it was stolen on Sunday evening.”
