Parts of Greater Manchester woke up on Friday to a dusting of snow and sleet showers, causing problems on the roads network.

The M62 westbound was experiencing slow traffic due to snow and there was a crash on the M6 near Wigan (between junctions 26 and 27) at 6.37am, plus congestion on the M60 following a number of collisions.

A crash on the M61 near junction 8 saw a southbound exit slip road closed for recovery work, again leading to tailbacks.

Drivers are being advised to take care and allow extra time for journeys.
