A 17-year-old boy who was arrested on suspicion of murder was later bailed, pending further enquiries - and police confirmed on Tuesday morning that three boys, one aged 15 and two aged 16, had been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Detective Chief Inspector Gareth Jones, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, said: “As our investigation continues, our thoughts remain with Alan’s loved ones.

“We have three suspects in custody but our enquiries are very much on going and we continue to appeal to anyone with information to contact us.”

Knife crimes

Alan’s death follows the fatal stabbing of another teenager Kennie Carter, 16, who was found with knife wounds in Stretford on 22 January.
