Ricky Hatton shares first Dancing On Ice picture with other contestants and makes hilarious boxing comparison

Ricky Hatton has shared a first glimpse of him in Dancing on Ice action - and isn't talking up his chances on the hit ITV show.

The Manchester fight icon has been named as one of the contestants for the 2024 series - along with former Olympian Greg Rutherford and Coronation Street stars Claire Sweeney and Ryan Thomas among others.

On Wednesday afternoon he posted his first training picture, complete with helmet and padding alongside the other contestants. The message alongside the snap hinted that he's found it tough going and included a brilliant comparison to his legendary days in the ring.

Ricky wrote on X: "One of the few pics of me on my feet after two days meeting the cast of @dancingonice for the first time!!. I thought my days of worrying about ending up dazed and looking upwards were over…but I never duck a challenge, even with a wonky helmet!"

Hatton was the first contestant announced for the latest series of the hit ITV skating show.

“If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink,” Hatton said when his place in the line-up was confirmed. “I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy!”

It's certainly going to be a change of pace for Ricky who has forged out a successful career as a trainer following his own in-ring retirement. He was most recently on our screens in the Sky documentary 'Hatton', which laid bare his battles post retirement, including a suicide attempt.

The show will air on ITV early in the new year.
