Ricky Hatton has been confirmed as the first celebrity to join Dancing on Ice.

The Manchester fight icon will swap boxing gloves for ice skates as he takes to the rink for the hit ITV show. The news was announced on ITV’s This Morning on Tuesday with the 2024 edition beginning in January.

“If I can hold my nerve in the boxing ring I should be able to hold my nerve in the ice rink,” Hatton said. “I like setting new challenges and keeping myself busy!”

It's certainly going to be a change of pace for Ricky who has forged out a successful career as a trainer following his own in-ring retirement. He was most recently on our screens in the Sky documentary 'Hatton', which laid bare his battles post retirement, including a suicide attempt.

Hatton will be one of 12 celebrities in all with long-time viewers likely to be interested in Dancing On Ice's presenting line-up, as it will be the first series since Phillip Schofield resigned from ITV after admitting having a relationship with a younger male former colleague. He has hosted the programme alongside long-time colleague Holly Willoughby since 2006.
