Rees Howarth: tributes to ‘kind-hearted’ man found dead in Hyde as woman appears in court charged with murder

Tributes have been paid to a man who was found dead in Hyde.

Police were called to reports of a domestic disturbance at a property on Thorsby Avenue on Sunday. A 28-year-old man who was found dead has been named today as Rees Howarth.

Today Rees’s family said: “Rees was an active and outgoing man, who was funny and loving. He had a heart of gold and was caring and kind-hearted. He was a larger than life character who will be sadly missed by all who loved him.”

Katie Yeomans, 27, of Thorsby Avenue, Hyde, was charged with the murder and will appear at Manchester Magistrates Court today (Wednesday 26 April 2023).

A 19-year-old woman who had been arrested but was later released with no further action to be taken.

DCI Mark Davis of GMP’s Major Incident Team said: “Our thoughts are of course with the victim’s family and we will continue to support them at this extremely difficult time.

“Again, I would like to reassure the public that this is an is an isolated incident with no wider risk to the public and we would please ask that members of the public not to speculate on this investigation.

“I would like to continue to appeal to members of the public for any information from anyone who may know more about this incident to please come forward and speak to GMP.
