Popeyes announces Manchester opening date in prime Piccadilly Gardens location

Popeyes has finally announced the date of its Manchester opening and they’re already anticipating queues round the block for their famous Louisiana Chicken Sandwich.

The popular American fried chicken joint will be opening on Thursday 26 October in the prime location of 1 Piccadilly Gardens, joining other popular food spots like Pizza Express, Pret a Manger, Barburrito and Shoryu Ramen.

Mancunians will have the chance to win a free chicken sandwich ahead of the launch by signing up via the Popeyes website.

Popeyes has expanded into the UK market at a rapid pace, opening 15 this year alone and 32 in total since their arrival in 2021.

And it seems to be proving popular, too. At their recent opening in Cardiff Bay, some people queued for 16 hours to ensure they were among the first to try Popeye’s chicken. The chain also opened their first drive-thru UK restaurant in Rotherham, which the company say was one of the busiest openings they have ever had.

The new restaurant in Piccadilly Gardens will have 67 seats indoors and a further 32 outside. Both sit-in and takeaway options are available.

What is Popeyes and what’s on the menu?

Hailing from New Orleans, Popeyes was founded in 1972 and has 4,000 locations globally. They serve up Louisiana favourites including spicy chicken, chicken tenders, and other regional items, such as Southern biscuits and gravy.

The new Manchester location will also be serving their brand-new breakfast menu, including the Big Breakfast Rolls (sausage patty, egg, streaky bacon, and American cheese in a soft bun), a variety of breakfast muffins, cajun hash browns and their famous Louisiana buttermilk biscuits served with cinnamon sugar or Nutella.
