

Sunday Times Rich List 2022: businessman who wants to takeover Man Utd among 10 richest people in North West
The Sunday Times Rich List 2022 shows some prominent figures from the region - including Jim Ratcliffe.
There are plenty of North West entries on the most Sunday Times Rich list.
The list is based on identifiable wealth, including land, property, other assets such as art and racehorses, or significant shares in publicly quoted companies.
Hedge fund manager Michael Platt is the richest person in the North West with a vast personal fortune of £10bn.
Here are the top 10 - including Manchester-born Ineos boss Jim Ratcliffe, who has previously spoken about how he would like to take over Manchester United. As the United takeover rumours rumble on with the Glazers looking poised to sell, a spokesman for INEOS boss Mr Ratclffe told The Times recently: “We have formally put ourselves into the process.”
Figures were published previously by the paper in 2022.

2. Jim Ratcliffe

3. Tom Morris and family
Source of wealth: Home Bargains: £5.127 billion. Morris started the Liverpool-based discount retail chain Home Bargains in 1976 when he was 21 years old. The chain retails a diverse range of goods, including health and beauty products, groceries and toys. The stock is often bought at discount from brands trying to offload stock.
