Choosing a suitable school for your child can be a tough decision with so many things to weigh up.
From good facilities to a convenient location and great teaching, there are lots of things to factor in - and not forgetting how the school has performed in its latest Ofsted inspection report. ‘Outstanding’ is the best Ofsted rating a school can receive, ‘good’ is next, ‘requires improvement’ the third, and ‘inadequate’ is the poorest rating.
Parents in Greater Manchester whose kids are set to start a new secondary school in September will find out which place they have been offered on 1 March. Meanwhile, those whose children are due to start in reception at primary school face a wait til 17 April to find out what they have been allocated.
In the meantime, we run down eight secondary schools in Manchester which have received ratings from Ofsted since 1 January this year. Some were monitoring visits following previous inspections, and all information is correct as per the Ofsted website on 20 February 2023, where the reports can all be viewed. 1. Loreto College
Loreto College in Hulme received an Outstanding rating on 8 February. It offers sixth form provision.
2. Tiferes Girl's School
Tiferes Girl’s School in Broughton, Salford, is an independent school offering provsion for girls aged 3 to 16. It was rated good on 19 January 2023.
3. Beis Ruchel Girls’ High School
Beis Ruchel Girls High School is on Norton Street in Salford. It is an independent Jewish faith school for ages 11 to 16, and was rated as requires improvement in an Ofsted report published on 27 January.
4. East Manchester Academy
East Manchester Academy is a mixed secondary school in Beswick and it was rated as requires improvement in an Ofsted report published on 17 February.
