A debate about the ‘roughest’ boozers in Greater Manchester certainly got you lot hot under the collar.
A viral thread on X (RIP Twitter) asking for the more notorious pubs up and down the land got people talking. @ROUNDTHEBEND__’s post asking “what’s the roughest pub you’ve ever been in and why?” has had a staggering five million impressions and has been hailed as one of the top threads ever.

But when we posted about it on our Facebook page - some of you were not happy, and leapt to the estate boozer’s defence.
Vikki Copeland: “Went in here for years in the 80s, was always a great night, definitely wouldn't class it as rough!!”
Simon Boardman: “Had some good times in that pub back in the day.”

Jerry Obeney: “As a student in the early 70’s I used to have a pint in there at lunchtime. Always seemed peaceful then.”
Elaine Leonard Middleton: “Used to go in here in my college lunch breaks many many moons ago and it was ok back then.”
Stuart Williams: “Loved the Flemish. I used to play for the darts team in the local Monday league. We were bobbins but it was a top nobble. Had loads of mint nights in there when Pat & Carol ran it back in the 90's. I don't think it was rough at all. If you drank in the area and you was a bit of a muppet then yes it could quickly come on top for you. My memory is that a lot of great people drank in the local pubs...The Flemish Weaver included.”

Pauline Gillibrand: “I loved this pub and I didn't think it was rough.”
Bob Jones: “Used to drink in there with the father in law, back in the 80s, considering I was a Police officer and a Scouser, never had a problem.”
Some of you did have funny anecdotes though… if you’re telling the truth.
Paul Kelly: “I went in the Flemish Weaver once, One of the punters had a goat on a lead.”
