Manchester Victoria evacuated amid reports of men with weapons on train

British Transport Police were called to the incident this morning (12 October) shortly after rush-hour.

Manchester Victoria railway station was evacuated this morning amid reports that two men had been seen with weapons on a train.

British Transport Police (BTP) attended and the busy train station was evacuated shortly after 9am, with a heavy police presence visinle outside.

However, despite searching the train, officers said they could not find the men and the station has since reopened.

In a statement, BTP said: “Officers were called to Manchester Victoria station at 9.14am today following reports of two men possibly carrying weapons on a train service.

“Armed police attended and conducted a full search of the train and area, however there was no trace of the two men.

“The report was made in good faith and enquiries are ongoing.”
