Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood is ‘bailed pending further investigation’

Greater Manchester police have now released Greenwood on bail.

Manchester United footballer Mason Greenwood has been released on bail pending further investigation, police said on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old was arrested on suspicion of rape and assault on Sunday and then further arrested on Tuesday, on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.

Greater Manchester police confirmed on Wednesday morning: “A 20-year-old man arrested (on Sunday 30 January 2022) on suspicion of the rape and assault of a woman has been released on bail pending further investigation.”

The police spokesman said enquiries are ongoing.
