More trains

Avanti West Coast has reintroduced train services which had stopped in December and January due to staff shortages. 

The frequency of services between Manchester and London has doubled from Monday as restrictions around Covid lift and more people get back on trains again.

Excess deaths

Deaths across Greater Manchester were higher in 2021 than in previous years with thousands of excess deaths recorded across the city-region.

New flats set for nod

And plans for more than 1,000 apartments are set to be approved at a Salford Council planning meeting.

The next phase of the £1bn Middlewood Locks development would see 909 flats built on two plots of land, along with 12 supported living flats and two house shares.
