Anwar Hosseni, 24, scratched marks on the Glade of Light memorial, a court has heard.

A man has admitted damaging the Glade of Light memorial to victims of the Manchester Arena bomb.

Anwar Hosseni, of Twillbrook Drive, Salford, scored white lines on the memorial near the city’s cathedral in February this year.

He pleaded guilty to criminal damage on Wednesday (6 April) at Manchester Magistrates’ Court, which heard the cost of vandalism was around £10,000. The memorial has since been restored.

The 24-year-old is expected to be sentenced on 4 May at Manchester Crown Court. He was bailed.
