Man charged after Piccadilly Gardens stabbing investigation

Police attended reports of a stabbing in the gardens on 14 March.

A man has appeared in court charged with assault and possession of bladed article, after an alleged stabbing in Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester city centre last week.

Isaac Francis, 21, of Wormholt Road, London, was due before Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.

A 15-year-old boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was also charged with a section 4 public order offence; he is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

It comes after police were called to the gardens on Monday 14 March to reports that a man in his 20s had two stab injuries. He was treated in hospital and later discharged.
