A man has been arrested on suspicion of abduction after a missing toddler was found at Manchester Airport.

Lancashire Police launched an urgent appeal for missing Gracie-May Rogers on Friday before later advising the toddler was collected by officers at Manchester Airport on Sunday evening “in the company of a woman”.

A 39-year-old man was arrested at Glasgow Airport on Tuesday 31 August and remained in custody on Wednesday, police said.

A police spokesman said: “Further to our earlier appeal we can confirm a man wanted by police after flying with a woman and child to Spain has been arrested by police.

“A 35-year-old woman who we wanted to speak to in connection with Gracie-May’s disappearance was detained by officers without incident.

“She is not under arrest and will be voluntarily interviewed in due course.”
