Manchester United and England footballer Marcus Rashford has announced that he and his long term girlfriend Lucia Loi are engaged.

Rashford popped the question to his girlfriend during a romantic getaway the pair were on following the conclusion of the Premier League season which is one, from a footballing perspective, Rashford is probably keen to move on from.

It has been a year of contrasts for the England international, from the highs and then lows of the Euro 2020 tournament last summer and then a season of frustration for Manchester United.

Yet it looks to be a good end to the season as Rashford is to marry his childhood sweetheart.

Rashford reportedly asked Lucia to marry him over a romantic meal during the holiday.

The pair were on holiday in Los Angeles at the time, meaning that they had one of the most picturesque settings in which to get engaged.

Upon hearing the news of the engagement, several of the couples friends heard over to where they were staying to pass on congratulations.

One of these was Rashford’s Manchester United and England team mate Jesse Lingard.

Lingard enjoyed his time out in LA and he was himself enjoying a holiday stateside following the conclusion of the 2021/22 Premier League season.

Other than a brief breakup in 2021, the couple have been together for around eight years.

She, and Rashford, have seemed keen on keeping their relationship away from social media, which is something that can only be positive for the couple.

Marcus Rashford is a footballer who plays as a forward for his hometown club Manchester United and England.

Rashford, who is 24, burst onto the scene at Manchester United in the 2015-16 campaign during which he made his first team debut.

Rashford started against Danish club Midtjylland in the UEFA Europa League where he scored twice in a 5-1 win.

He finished his debut season with eight goals in 18 games, which is impressive when you consider he only made his debut in February.

To date, Rashford has scored 93 goals in 303 appearances for Manchester United.

Rashford has represented his country at three international tournaments, helping the side to reach the semi finals of the 2018 World Cup and the final of Euro 2020.
