Police have stepped up patrols in Stretford and the wider area following the fatal stabbing on Saturday night.

Police are quizzing five youths after a 16-year-old boy was stabbed to death in Manchester over the weekend.

Kennie Carter was found with stab wounds on Thirlmere Avenue in Stretford at about 7pm on Saturday. He was taken to hospital but later died from his injuries.

Four boys between 15 and 17 were arrested on suspicion of murder and a fifth later handed himself in to police on Sunday.

Police continue inquiries in Stretford, OldTrafford and Hulme as part of the investigation.
