Postal workers were threatened with what they believe was a gun in armed robbery in Stockport.

Greater Manchester police were called to the Post Office on Finney Lane, Heald Green about 1pm on Saturday (17 December). Police say a person pointed what is thought to be a firearm at staff before a number of stamps and a ‘significant amount’ of cash were stolen.

Detective Sergeant Stephen Hartley said: “Thankfully no one was physically injured during the incident but understandably staff were shaken up by the ordeal. We’re wanting to identify two men who may be able to assist with our enquiries who were dressed in high-vis orange short sleeve jackets.

“No arrests have been made and extensive work is being done by investigators who are trawling CCTV and speaking to witnesses.”
