Deansgate attempted murder probe: two badly hurt after being struck with brick

Police leading an attempted murder inquiry in Manchester city centre have now charged a man.
GMP said they were called to a report of ‘injured men’ at the junction of Deansgate and Peter Street at 2.15am on Monday 13 June.

The victims were taken to hospital with serious head injuries, where two of them remained for treatment yesterday. It is understood they were struck with a brick.
Jordan Smith, 30, of Hulme Street, Manchester has now been charged with two counts of attempted murder and section 18 assault. He was remanded in custody ahead of a hearing at Manchester and Salford Magistrates Court on Thursday (16 June).
A second man, 26, was arrested on Thursday on suspicion of attempted murder. He remains in police custody for questioning.
