Daniel John Twigg: tributes to ‘brave’ boy killed in Rochdale dog attack

The family of a youngster who died following a dog attack in Rochdale have paid tribute to their ‘kind and caring’ little boy.

Police were called to a rural address at Carr Lane in Milnrow on Monday afternoon by paramedics.

Daniel John Twigg, three, was taken to hospital with serious injuries and sadly died.

Police investigating the incident say he was outside with a number of dogs before the attack happened. They seized a number of dogs and a Cane Corso has since been put down.

A 48-year-old man has been arrested under the Dangerous Dogs Act and is being questioned by police.

Family tribute to Daniel Twigg

Daniel's family have issued a tribute to him, saying: "Daniel was a happy, kind and caring little boy who was loved by all who knew him.

"He loved Paw Patrol and playing with his brother and sister, he also loved being around animals - especially his pony, Splash.

"He brought us many laughs and was a comical character.

"He was brave, intelligent and full of many characteristics.

"Daniel loved being with his whole family and will be missed by all.”

What have police said?

GMP said the investigation into Daniel's death is ongoing. They have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct while they review ‘other incidents of note’ in connection with the case.
