British man found dead in Florence

A British man has been found dead at a luxury hotel in Florence, Italian media have reported.

The man in his 40s was found in his room at the Hotel Continentale on Saturday, according to news sites in the city, along with an injured woman. Local police were understood to have been alerted by hotel staff.

The MailOnline has reported the man was from Manchester but this has not yet been confirmed by officials.

A Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office spokesperson said: “We are in touch with the Italian police following the death of a British man in Florence.”
