The many people who visit Manchester for city breaks or longer stays will soon have another option for a visit to the city as a new aparthotel prepares to open its doors and welcome its first guests.

The Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly, which has been created by Marriott International, will have 155 studios and one-bedroom apartments spread over 12 floors in a city centre location. The well-known hotel chain already has four similar aparthotels in London and Scotland, but the Manchester one will be its first in the north of England when it opens at the start of May.

Marriott says the new aparthotel will be ideal for visiting hip areas of Manchester such as the Northern Quarter and Ancoats which have been named among the coolest neighbourhoods to live in or visit.

What is the Residence Inn and when does it open in Manchester?

Residence Inn by Marriott Manchester Piccadilly is set to officially open its doors in May, with rooms available from 1 May. Bookings for the new aparthotel are open now and available through the Marriott Bonvoy website.

It is located on Laystall Street, around a 10-minute walk from Piccadilly station and next to the Northern Quarter and Ancoats areas, which have regularly been highlighted as great places to live and visit by magazines and websites.

The hotel has 155 studios and one-bedroom apartments across 12 floors. More than half will have sofa beds in the living space, ideal for young travellers or groups, and 25 of the apartments or suites will have baths. Marriott is also promising stunning views of the Manchester skyline from the aparthotel’s topmost floors.

The hotel complex also has a state-of-the-art gym, a self-service communal laundry, a coffee shop with a grab-and-go counter and a bespoke grocery delivery service. The centre of the aparthotel is an open-air space with outdoor seating and there are two ground floor retail units which the hotel chain is hoping to let before it opens.
